Environment. I clerk the meetings - I run and help in the meetings, I script the entire thing from the
welcomes and the motions. I step in as necessary to provide legal guidance and parameters. I have a
very behind the scenes type role, which is what I like. Make sure that things are running smoothly. I
have to say there is a really great relationship between the commission and the department.

          3. Please describe your supervisory experience and the most challenging human resources issue you
            have addressed.

When they revised the position that I'm in - before I was hired over three years ago - they added it to
the management team. So I work directly with the seven program managers in the department as
their equals. I work directly with the high level management in this position. In my last position I
worked directly with County Department heads. I am very used to appropriately communicating with
people at the highest levels of public government. I have managed two staff when I managed a
campaign - a couple jobs ago. I've been blessed to have had really good staff and interns. There are a
couple of things in this job now and the position that could potentially become HR issues, which is
dealing with the public and how difficult they can be. In San Francisco there are members of the
public that get frustrated. The position also oversees the rate setting process which is really
contentious. I am really proud about the way that I deal with the public. When I came the public was
used to be really contentious and difficult. I don't respond to the behavior. I have actually come to
get to know them. Sometimes I will anticipate the questions that they have and get to know them.
Also, a lot of times - staff aren't too excited about the requests that you're making, and show their
distain sometimes. I really approach them with respect, in the case of the department and
environment. They have a hard time seeing the correlation between administrative responsibilities
and us saving the world. The exact same would happen in Vallejo where you have staff that are really
proud of the work that they do and it's really thankless. I would do the same and approach them
with a level of respect and offer my assistance.
          4. Please describe your experience in coordinating, tracking and reporting out on the implementation
of organizational goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

I actually write the department's and commission's annual reports. So I am very familiar with it. I also
oversee the approval process by the commission. Some of the departments and the commission
relationship here in the City is contentious, where the commission doesn't necessarily agree with the
changes. The three years that I have been here the commission doesn't see things unanimously, I
work with staff to make sure we have proper reporting. The budget has been approved unanimously.
I have also written a report that a task reported on -the energy efficiency reporting committee. I
wrote the really long, technical report, so reporting is something that I am familiar with and enjoy.
          5. Please describe your experience with electronic filing systems as it pertains to this position.

There's so many aspects from public records to budgeting to finance. We are moving towards filing
public records requests electronically, and so you know, San Francisco has some of the most public
and meeting and records laws in the world, and my job is to make sure that those documents are
reported publically. In terms of publically posting documents and reports - that's my job - and I'm
technically savvy and something I can figure out pretty quickly. We are one of the most advanced
departments. I am in charge of filing the department's performance metrics. There are so many
systems that I use, that I can't even think of one. It's something that I try to do fluidly.
                                                           Limited management experience.

                                                           I have managed two staff
          6. Please describe your experience in evaluating technology and operational procedure utilized in an
                                                           when I managed a campaign -
                                                           a couple jobs ago.
