getting. Our team was pretty much leading the pack compared to all of us at the
agency. Once I made the jump to the District - I have one person under me - I have a
very good interpersonal relationship with her and we get along fine. The most
sensitive issue that I have had to deal with, at my current job, this one instance, there
was a gentleman standing in a lobby with flowers and a teddy bear - he requested to
see a certain individual - he said he's her husband. I had him wait in the lobby. She
shared with me that she had been in a fight with her husband and he was trying to
find her at work because she wasn't returning her calls. I felt it was the right call to
leave the man in the lobby, if I had brought him to her work station, who knows what
would could have happened. That would be one of the most recent sensitive
situations that I had to deal with and everything worked out fine.
4. Please describe your experience in coordinating, tracking and reporting out on the
implementation of organizational goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
Goals should be trackable and achievable. Map it and then do weekly check-ins and
daily check-ins. Those can become daily tasks for folks. By having our weekly check-
ins we can assess how we're doing and then pivot based on day to day randomness.
Having our weekly check-ins, having a clearly defined goal, I think has worked for me.
Being able to translate all your work into everything that your bosses can understand.
I try to do a 10,000 foot snapshot, right when I focus on all the wins. Should they be
interested in further details, then subsequent information will have those
breakdowns and the success rate of completing those items. The constant
touchpoints help to adjust and still try to meet goals.
5. Please describe your experience with electronic filing systems as it pertains to this
position.
The ones that I am familiar with are my own personal ones. It's all in the naming
convention in how you are organizing your files.
6. Please describe your experience in evaluating technology and operational
procedure utilized in an administrative department and your approach to
implementing change, if needed.
At the district we had a vendor who was constantly approaching me called Peach Jar.
They provide a digital platform for fliers. Their solution - they're an app on your
phone that can sync to your school website. The app separates the student body by
school. The vendor pays whatever fee the company will charge them. That was the
company - that's what they did in a nutshell. They were trying to get a first meeting to
see if there was an appetite for this type of stuff. I was able to coordinate the meeting
and had them present. The IT Director and I got together and decided that the price
was too expensive and our parents are not all on email - and this application was
email based. I didn't think it would be very wide-ranging. As an attempt to try to work
with the company - we would get a 10% - it would make the cost for the product a
little less. We ultimately decided not to do it. The third part of the question is how I
would have gone about it if I did do it. It would have been to meet with the
stakeholders and host a one-on-one or a group professional development setting
