Once the appropriate Cannulated Tap is selected,
assemble the Cannulated Tap to the Ratcheting Straight
Handle or Ratcheting T-Handle.
Insert the Cannulated Tap over the K-Wire and in the
prepared pathway and screw down to the desired
length. Take caution to insure that the K-Wire does not
advance as the tap is advanced. If the 19mm Dilator is in
place, the measurment markings on the side of the tap
can be used to estimate screw length.
Screw Insertion:
Pick the appropriate screw in the screw caddy and
insert onto the Cannulated Polyaxial Screwdriver.
Assemble the Cannulated Polyaxial with either the
Ratcheting Straight Handle or Ratcheting T-Handle. The
tip of the screw is placed over the K-Wire and into the
prepared pathway and screwed down until the last
thread is flush with the bony surface. Take caution to
insure that the K-Wire does not advance as the screw is
Slide Lock advanced. Once the screw is inserted, the Cannulated
Retaining Polyaxial Screwdriver is disengaged from the screw and
sleeve the K-Wire is removed.
Rod Selection:
Determine the appropriate rod length. Calipers are
provided to estimate the rod length if necessary.
The use of pre-cut rods facilitates the surgery by
minimizing the time necessary to measure and cut a
long rod to the appropriate length. It is recommended
to bend the rod to the appropriate lordotic curvature
(sagittal plane) to lower the overall construct height and
to improve its biomechanics by reducing the bending
