Meeting for the first time is like we still have barriers to communicate with others.
Starting a conversation should begin with greeting and introductions. Giving business cards may
be the steps after introducing oneself. Next step is a small talk question to break the ice, make
people feel relaxed and comfortable. Small talk questions might start with light topics such as
How was your trip?, Where are you staying?, their first impression for a place or country, or what
is the weather like? Some topics may not be appropriate for talking when meeting other people
for the first time. Avoiding and being careful of topics such as family, religion, politics and
making compliments about appearance. For the next part is down to business which is talking
on topic of interest or point of greeting. After the end of the meeting, leaving with a good
conversation will make more impression on the interlocutor. Example sentences for ending
conversation are thanks for a good meeting, it was so nice to meet you, thanks-it was a
pressure. I appreciate your help, goodbye, I hope you have a good day.
