knowledge, and discovering opportunities where others may see obstacles
(Hoffman, 2012). Before I established the goals and changes I aspired to
achieve, I first had to reflect and explore my core values. I believe our
personal values and goals are interconnected, that our goals are the outer
expression of our personal values. Ascertaining my values was necessary as
they helped to guide me through my research process and were a source of
motivation throughout. It became apparent that my values would become my
criteria and lay the foundation of my action research.
• Although the knowledge created during this research is developed by the
individual practitioner, it is also a collaborative and cooperative process. The
EEA methodology inspires and guides the researcher to achieve their creative
potential in a safe, nurturing environment supported by their peers,
supervisors and work colleagues. The methodology is designed to bring
about change in the workplace or improve a situation by using technology
and multimedia.
I described the characteristics that distinguish the EEA approach from other action
research methodologies as well as some of the processes it shares. I will now explain
the four steps involved in this process and how I incorporated them into my research:
3.3.1 Educational Entrepreneurial Approach to Action Research (Crotty,
2014)
The EEA to Action Research consists of four key stages: Explore, Understand,
Create and Transform. I will now briefly explain the four steps involved in this
process:
1. Explore:
At the beginning of the research process Crotty’s (2014) EEA approach inspires the
practitioner to examine their ontological view point by exploring their educational
values, their passion and identify what motivates them in their field of work.
