(a) IDENTIFY AN ITEM OF MODERN EQUIPMENT USED IN COMMUNICATIONS.

One of the latest items in the field of
communications equipment is the Fax Machine.
This machine can send a copy of a document to
another machine any-where in the world in a few
seconds, just like a telephone. Visit an office or
check with Cable and Wireless B.T.C. (Bahamas
Telecommunications Company) or ALIV to find out
more. They could also explain all about E-mail on
the computer and how the Internet System operates
and how people can “Surf the Net”.
(b) EXPLAIN TO THE PACK THE EFFECT
MODERN TECHNOLOGY HAS ON THE LIVES OF
THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

Make a list of the items of Modern
Technology that are used in The Bahamas. We
know about Computers and Fax Machines, ask
Akela to arrange a visit to a large business company
and look at the equipment used, and don't forget
Cable and Wireless B.T.C. (Bahamas
Telecommunications Company) and Cable T.V.
Proficiency Badge to try: Communications.

18. HISTORY, LAW AND PROMISE

Now that you are older you should know more about the History of Scouting
and understand the deeper meaning of the Law and Promise.

(a) YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHOW A KNOWLEDGE OF THE LIFE OF THE
FOUNDER OF THE SCOUT MOVEMENT AND ITS INFLUENCE ON SCOUTING.

Knowledge of the life of the Founder can be gained by reading books and
Scouting magazines from the Public Library. Read all about the African Chief
Dinizulu and why his necklace became famous.
