                    11. COMMUNITY SERVICE

You already have learned about how a Cub Scout should become useful in
the home, Pack, School and community. You will show your ability to become a
useful citizen by participating in the following:

                                  (a) SHOW THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER DISPOSAL OF
                                  BOTTLES, TINS AND OTHER LITTER.

If we throw away and destroy all our tins,
bottles and some other waste materials we
would eventually not have any more of them.
Most countries have begun to “Recycle” their
waste. This means that the waste is sorted into
aluminum, glass, plastic, paper, etc. These
materials are then processed individually and
recycled to make more items of Aluminum,
glass, plastic, paper, etc. at the moment, only
aluminum cans are collected for recycling in The
                                   Bahamas.

                    (b) TAKE PART IN A BEAUTIFICATION FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IN YOUR
                    COMMUNITY.

Ask Akela to contact The Bahamas Beautification Committee and take part in
one or more of their projects. Why not get your Six to beautify the area around your
                    meeting place, School or Church.

                    (c) PARTICIPATE IN A TREE PLANTING PROJECT OR OTHER NATURE
                          CONSERVATION ACTIVITY.
Have Akela contact the Conservation Department and the National Parks
Trust and take part in the Tree Planting Ceremony.
In addition to the previous activities select one of the following.

                                                                                                13
