2. If you fall into the water, and you cannot swim. Or you find yourself in water
that is too deep:
a. Stay calm,
b. Turn over and float on your back,
c. Attract attention by waving one arm and
shouting for help. HELP!
3. If it is someone else in difficulty,
a. Don't go into the water to help if you cannot
swim,
b. Don't panic, stay calm,
c. Look for something to help pull him out – a stick,
a tree branch, a piece of rope, a palm leaf or
even a piece of clothing,
d. Lie down when pulling to prevent yourself from
being pulled into the water,
e. If you cannot reach him, throw him anything that
will float for him to hold onto, basketball, plastic
bottles, tree log, etc. then run for help.
(b) KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF SUMMONING ADULT HELP TO ASSIST
SOMEONE IN DANGER.
It is important to summon Adult help whenever anyone is in danger because,
as the saying goes, “Two heads are better than one.” An adult will have more
strength, knowledge, skills and experience which may be required.
(c) BY YOUR EXAMPLE, EXPLAIN ROAD SAFETY TO YOUR YOUNGER CUB
SCOUTS.
Whenever you are with the Pack assist the younger Cub Scouts when
crossing the road or when walking along the side of the road, to and from your
meeting. Remember, instruction and learning does not stop when you leave the
Pack Den.

6. ARTS AND CRAFTS
You learned how to make things with your own hands when you were
participating in the Bronze and Silver Arrow Programmes. Now you will experiment
with other materials and 'create' new items. You will also learn the importance of
caring for your tools. Ask Akela to invite a skilled carpenter or metal worker to talk
about the tools they use in their trade. You should know how to care for and use
the following tools:
