Brightly beams our father's mercy Forth in Thy name, O Lord, I go,
From His lighthouse evermore; My daily labour to pursue,
Thee, only Thee, resolved to know
But to us he gives the keeping Of the lights In all I think, or speak, or do. 1/5

Chorus The task Thy wisdom has assigned
Let the lower lights be burning, O let me cheerfully fulfil,
Send a gleam across the wave: In all my works Thy presence find,
And prove Thy good and perfect will. 2/5
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman

Thee may I set at my right hand,
Verse 2 Whose eyes my inmost substance see,
Dark the night of sin has settled, And labour on at Thy command,
