Verse 2 Thou gavest me;
May we not wait in selfish sloth, Nor should I aught withhold,
But mingle prayer and work, that both My Lord, from thee;
May trim the shining light;
In love my soul would bow,
So from the midnight of their sin My heart fulfil its vow,
May many with us, enter in, Some offering bring thee now, Something for

We would not come alone, dear Lord, At the blest mercy seat
To thy great feast, and at thy board Pleading for me,
In rapture sit and gaze, My feeble faith looks up, Jesus, to thee:
But bring the lost, the sick, the lone, Help me the cross to bear,
The little ones to be thine own, Thy wondrous love declare, Some song to raise,

Have done with lesser things; Henceforth may see
Give heart and soul and mind and strength

The Church for you doth wait, My ransomed soul shall be Through all eternity
Her strength unequal to her task; Something for thee.
