DOGMATIC MINDED. The last thought leads to being dogmatic
in our thinking. We are more structured than earlier people in our
thoughts. A + B must always equal C. If I do ‘thus and so,’ then ‘thus
and so’ must result. We live life in ‘cause and effect.’ We tend to
arbitrarily adopt positions only because they benefit us. Earlier
people were more flexible and humble. We’re more prideful,
inflexible and intolerant to change.
SKEPTICAL MINDED. We are skeptical, and rightly so with all
the advertising, philosophies, persuasions, opinions and requests
thrown at us. Thus we become too ultra-cautions even with people
close to us. We must strive to be more receptive, trusting and
embracing.
RECOGNITION MINDED. Most of us are recognition and reward
driven. Again, we are not collective in our thinking. We’re tuned
into radio station WIIFM: ‘what’s in it for me?’ We all have MMFI
painted on our foreheads: ‘make me feel important.’ We view
things in more of a personal rights type of thinking than a common
good.
LEGAL MINDED. We have a very litigious culture in America.
Any lawyer will tell you this. We are law and judgment thinkers —
not love, grace and peace minded. Thus, the GOSPEL doesn’t set
well in many Christians: it doesn’t fit their human thinking and logic,
so they sadly often prefer human wisdom, thinking and theology.
It’s sad but true.
