Kapalbhati Pranayama

The term 'Kapal' in Sanskrit means Skull, and 'bhati' means 'illuminated or

shining'. The popular Pranayama form of Kapalbhati is described as 'the

breath of fire'. It refers that by this breathing exercise, the crown becomes

radiant and lustrous, implying the extermination of all diseases,

purification of the body, mind and soul and a stress-free, happy life. The

technique of performing this super powerful respiratory process involves

deep inhalation and strong, forced exhalation in a homogeneous rhythm

and usually makes the practitioner feel warm and flushed.

Note: This form of pranayama is not recommended during pregnancy.

Kapalbhati Pranayama is the most comprehensive Pranayama of its type which

fine tunes every single organ system in the body. The origins of this holistic

wonder are from Indian Yogis dating back thousands of centuries. It’s utility lies

in the fact that it can bring positive, curative results in ailments which medical

science can, as yet, only suppress symptoms of, such as cancer, diabetes, asthma.

Modern yoga practitioners have labelled this breath work as a life giving

pranayama and this has been proved with numerous patients having regained

perfect health, stress free living and a happy life by adopting it, in their daily
