POLICY RELATING TO MANAGEMENT AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST
The National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Association is firmly committed to upholding the
highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical governance in all aspects of its
management and operations. In alignment with its Constitution, the Association maintains clear
policies and processes to prevent and address any potential conflicts of interest.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Under the NYAA Association's governance framework, all Directors bear the responsibility to avoid
situations where their interests may conflict, or be perceived to conflict, with their fiduciary duties
to the Association. In the event of any potential or actual conflict of interest:
• Directors are required to make a full disclosure of their interests.
• They must abstain from deliberations, decision-making, and voting on any matter in which
a conflict arises.
• The Association has also implemented a Conflict of Interest Policy for Staff and a
comprehensive Code of Ethics for Council Members, reinforcing its commitment to ethical
conduct at all levels of leadership and administration.
In 2024, the Association is pleased to report that there were no incidents of conflicts of interest
involving Council Members or staff. Should any conflict of interest arise in the future, the
prescribed protocols for disclosure and abstention will be strictly adhered to, ensuring continued
confidence in the Association's governance.
Management, Recruitment, and Employment Practices
The NYAA Association adopts an open, transparent, and merit-based approach to staff recruitment
and appointment. All job vacancies are publicly advertised via reputable online recruitment
platforms, including JobStreet, JobsDB, LinkedIn, and Indeed, to ensure fair and broad-based
access to employment opportunities.
Remuneration and Human Resource Governance
All matters pertaining to staff remuneration, salary adjustments, and bonuses are subject to
rigorous oversight:
• The Finance Committee, chaired by Mr Gary Shen Weiren (Treasurer), reviews and
recommends all remuneration proposals.
• Final decisions are endorsed by the NYAA National Council, chaired by Dr Eugene Seah Hsiu-
Min (Chairman, NYAA National Council), ensuring comprehensive governance, financial
prudence, and accountability.
Through these established processes, the NYAA Association remains steadfast in maintaining fair
employment practices, responsible financial management, and the highest standards of
governance.
FUTURE PLANS
Leveraging Technology for NYAA Mobile Apps & Activities
The NYAA Association is committed to harnessing technology to enhance the experience and
accessibility of the programme for both participants and administrators. The development of an
online registration system and NYAA mobile applications marks a significant transformation from
