The Injection Rate is defined as the speed the machine uses to push material into the molding cavity.
Typically, the injection rate will be in the range of 100-150 mm/s. To obtain consistent results, it is
recommended to use an average injection speed of 120 mm/s. In R16SP2Patch1, the Flow Rate profile is Commented [AB7]: Flow Rate and Machine Response to
altered to include a machine response. This will make the process more realistic. be changed in R16SP2Patch1. Mention here.
An example of this calculation may be found below:
2.3.2.2 Process Temperatures
As mentioned earlier, the temperature of the material will define the viscosity, which is imperative to the
calculation for filling. As such, it is important to define a melt and mold temperature which are consistent
with the process, material and part being filled.
The material file will provide the Melt and Mold Temperature recommendation per the material’s data.
The material file will also define a range to stay within.
NOTE: If the material’s temperature ranges are exceeded, the material data may no longer be consistent.
2.4 Run Setup
Once the project is created, a run may now be created. This is where the mesh will be imported, material
is selected and process is specified.
2.4.1 Run type
There are two (2) ways to create a run:
1) New Run
a. Creates a run from scratch; the user will need to input all information
2) Copy Run
a. Copies another run in the same project
b. This is the most common iteration tool which will be used
c. Ensures that all input conditions are the same from run to run, allowing user to compare
results more effectively
