3) Raw Data conversion
a. If the material was already tested, the raw data from the testing may be converted into a
Moldex3D material card
b. Data should include Viscosity, PVT, Heat Capacity, Thermal Conductivity, and Mechanical
Properties, and optional Viscoelastic and Optical properties
4) Material card conversion
a. Any material from the MoldFlow® database can be converted from .UDB format into
Moldex3D format
5) Material Recommendation
a. If a spec sheet exists for a material not available in the Moldex3D Material Database, a
recommendation can be made for the desired material, based on the materials currently
in the database
b. To obtain a material recommendation, send the material’s generic information to
Moldex3D support
Material Wizard: Open the material database to select a material file.
Recently Used Materials: Allow for Selection of any material used in previous projects.
User Bank Materials: Short list of commonly used materials (materials in this list are chosen from the
material database or imported directly).
Import: Imports a material file in either .MTR (thermoplastic), or .MTX (thermoset) format. Imported
materials also appear in the User Bank.
2.4.3.1 Material Wizard layout
The Moldex3D Material Wizard allows the user to select a material for use in simulation.
