b.   The MSIS Coordinator will notify the FPD  when a school has passed  the  monthly data
                       submission at the district level.
                       c. The FPD or designee will compare the Homeless Identification Form with the Student Holding
                       Area Report filtered for homeless students from MSIS.
                       d.   The FPD or designee will notify  the school counselor if there are discrepancies.  Upon
                       correction by the counselor, the MSIS Coordinator will re-run the district file and notify the FPD
                       when the new school file has passed the district.
                       e.  Upon complete verification of homeless students by school, the FPD will sign and date the
                       Student Holding Area Report filtered for homeless students and file the report with the monthly
                       Purple Sheets for documentation and reference.

               English Learners (EL)

               1.  The FPD updates the district English Learner (EL) Coordinator in MSIS for the current school year by
               accessing the EL section of the Federal Programs Module in MSIS.

               2.  Prior to completion of month one (1) MSIS reporting, the FPD will work with school counselors to
               verify all current EL students as follows.
                       a. The MSIS Coordinator will notify the FPD when a school has passed the monthly data
                       submission at the district level.
                       b.  The FPD will access the Student Holding Area Report filtered for EL students and compare it
                       to the EL Student list as compiled by the EL Coordinator at the beginning of the school year to
                       ensure that previous EL students who have not exited the program, students being monitored and
                       any newly identified EL students are listed.
                       c.   The FPD will notify the school counselor if there are discrepancies.  Upon
                       verification/correction by the counselor, the MSIS Coordinator will re-run the district file and
                       notify the FPD when the new school file has passed the district.
                       d.  The FPD will compare the EL Student List with the Student Holding Area Report filtered for
                       EL students from MSIS.
                       e.  Upon complete verification of the school, the FPD will sign and date the Report and file for
                       documentation and reference.
                       f.  Following the above procedures, the FPD/designee will verify the list of EL students for the
                       MSIS – Reporting cycle as directed by the MDE (for pulling of data for the state adopted
                       Language test), to ensure that all EL students’ information is correct, i.e., language spoken, years
                       in the program, grade level, monitored.
