When I was closing the rental
agreement on a new living room set with a
customer, I said, “And after several weekly payments, you
will own this merchandise.” He stopped me and said, “Wait—I (
(
will OWN this living room group? Is that what you just said?” Coworker 3
“Yep,” I answered, “All yours.” He told me that he just thought he
would be renting—forever! He didn’t think he’d ever actually
own anything from Rent-A-Center! He was shocked, and
couldn’t wait to tell his family! OUR RENT-A-CENTER CUSTOMERS / RTO MYTHBUSTERS
I greeted
a customer the other day in the
store, and they seemed to have a very shocked
look on their face. I asked if anything was wrong, and
she said “No! Nothing’s wrong, I just figured that since you were
rent-to-own, that all of your stuff would be old, and really worn out…
I guess I was expecting stuff that looked like it was from the 1970’s or
something! This stuff is really nice!” And I replied, “That’s right, in fact,
we carry brand-new appliances, brand-name electronics, and high-end
furniture like Ashley and Lane. What are you interested in today?”

And we proceeded through the showroom to the Whirlpool
Coworker 4 appliances and she rented our top-of-the-line
washer and dryer!
After reading these situations, can you think
of a few other myths or misconceptions that you had before you
walked in the door that you now know the truth about? What are they?
