Abstrak: Livestock is an integral component of agriculture in Indonesia and
plays an important role in national economic development. The development of
the agricultural sector, especially the livestock sub-sector, is very important and
strategic in the Indonesian economy. This study aims to analyze the trend of
GDP livestock sub-sector and the livestock sub-sectors contribution to GDP in
Indonesia over the last 5 years, and identify the role of the livestock sub-sector
in each province in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data from the
Indonesian Central Statistics Agency for 2016-2020. The data analysis used is
quantitative analysis, namely linear trend analysis for the livestock sub-sector
GDP (2016-2020), Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, Dynamic Location
Quotation (DLQ), and shift-share analysis. The results show that the livestock
sub-sector GDP trend in Indonesia is positive with an average growth during
(2016-2020) of 4% per year. The LQ results show that from 34 provinces in
Indonesia, 20 provinces are the basic for the livestock sub-sector. The highest
LQ value is East Nusa Tenggara Province, while the lowest is Papua Province.
DLQ value >1 indicates that the livestock sub-sector can still be expected to
become the base sector in the future. There are 13 provinces that have a DLQ
value < 1. While the other 21 provinces have a DLQ value > 1. shift-share
analysis shows that in addition to the provinces of NTB and Papua, the growth
of the livestock sub-sector in each province is faster than the growth of the
livestock sub-sector nationally.
