Evening Scene
Lo! It is twilight!swallows are homeward calling,
Beyond the yonder hills the sun is falling;
The western skies are wearing a scarlet hue,
The distant hills stand grim and blue
The solitary palm stands on the horizon
Mute and motionless as in a design;
Every tree and hill, temple and hut
Wear in the landscape a dark silhouette.
Now lower down the coppery Sun hath hastened,
In his stately chariot of guilded clouds,fastened
With radiant sunbeams across the sky.
And driven by Time’s horses without a sigh.
Nature in Love-1
It was a happy evening
When Cupid was on his wing;
On his romantic errand, proud,
For the lovely loving cloud!
