                                                Abstract



                    The content of this article is divided into two separated but intermingled parts.
            The first part is based on a presentation delivered by the author at a seminar held on
            3 November 2020 at the Court of Appeal for Specialized Cases, Labour Division.

            The second part is derived from a special interview with the author by a working group
            of the Court of Appeal for Specialized Cases on 10 February 2021 at the Faculty

            of Law, Chulalongkorn University.
                    In the first part, the author discusses the role of the International Labour

            Organization (ILO) which was founded in 1919 by the Treaty of Versailles and was
            later annexed  as a specialized agency of the United Nations. One of the key objectives
            of the ILO is to promote international labour standards (ILS) through its instruments,

            Conventions and Recommendations, and social dialogue. The author further explains
            the structure of the ILO and salient features of the ILO supervisory mechanism, both
            regular system of supervision and special procedure.

                    In the second part, the author, as a Committee of Expert on the Application of

            Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR), shares his opinion concerning selected
            contemporary labour-related issues, including, the role of the ILO in global affairs, the
            problems regarding the ILO Conventions No.87 and No.98, migrant workers, forced

            labour, trade war and protectionism.
