a great tasting drink since visitors will be coming over and be waiting to talk to their boss or
manager.

1. You’ve graduated as a Com Laude with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant
Management at Yale University, America’s 3rd Best College. You’ve been
waiting for a long time to have a job at the Majestic Hotel, and you’re very
happy that they’ve finally considered your application. However, it is not in
the restaurant but in the administration’s office. You’ve accepted the work as
a receptionist.
Sample answer:
Good afternoon Ma’am, how can I help you? I see, you’re waiting for my boss, Mr. Robert Carl-
son. Do you have a schedule with him? Very well, would it be ok with you if you just wait for
a while? He’s on a meeting right now, and it will be over soon. If you wish to wait for him, you
could sit down here at the lobby. We have some magazines to read and the TV on. Would you
like something to drink? Ok sir, help yourself and feel at home. I’ll let you know if my Boss is
finally available. Thanks!

2. You’ve worked at Starbucks Coffee, but your contract has finally ended. You
applied for a new job at Seattle’s Best. Since you’re knowledgeable about
the coffee business, and you’ve got a congenial personality, the Manager
hired you as his secretary believing that you’ll be an asset to the company.

Sample answer:
(You met your boss at the reception)Good morning, Sir. I am Sofia Peterson. Thank you for hir-
ing me as your secretary. I’m reporting for duty. Is there anything that I can offer or do for you?
Would you like coffee? How would you like it prepared? Ok sir, since you want me to name
some of the best selling coffees in Starbucks, I’ll name 2. Would you like me to prepare you
an Espresso Roast? It is a blend of coffee from Latin America and Asia Pacific. It has thick cara-
mel-like sweetness and smoothness. Alternatively, would you rather prefer a French Roast, our
darkest roast coffee that has a dense flavor making it one of the bestsellers? The blunt, smoky
flavors are the objectives having this. Sir, you have a scheduled appointment with Miss Marie
Claire Vince at 11am. She’s actually sitting right on that corner, the lady in yellow. She’s been
waiting for you for an hour at the reception. Would you like me to call her in now, or we’ll just
let her wait until it’s exactly 11am? Ok sir, I’ll let her know that you’ll be ready in a little while. I’ll
leave you for a moment. Enjoy your coffee!
