As they wander over the earth, the calves are like the milk ocean's
bubbles, Lord Çiva's chuckles, or maàsa-piëòä offerings in pure
goodness.

kià gaëda-çailäù sphaöikäcalasya
mahormayaù kià nu mahä-payodheù
säyaà gåhä ye munivac ca jévan-
muktä iva svaira-carä hi ñaëòäù
kim—is it?; gaëòa—large; çailaù—rocks; sphaöikä—of crystal; acalasya—
of the mountain; mahä—great; urmayaù—waves; kim—is it?; nu—
indeed; mahä—great; payaù—of milk; dheù—from the ocean; säyam—at
evening; gåhaù—at their asramas; ye—who; muni-sages; vat—like; ca—
also; jévat—although living within the material world; muktäù—already
liberated; iva—like; svaira—according to their own desire; caraù—
moving; hi—indeed; çaëòaù—bulls.
Are these great boulders from the crystal mountain? Are they tidal
waves from the milk-ocean? These are the bulls of Vraja. During
the day they freely wander, just as liberated souls, and during the
evening they sit peacefully at home, just as great sages rapt in
contemplation.

yatra—where; asate—are; garva-dhäräù—proud; iva—as if; ete—they;
hamvadakäräù—mooing galakamvaläù—galakamvala; ca—and; virakta-
lokäù—renunciants; iva—like puìgaväù—the best; te—they; mattäù—
madmen; iva—like; stabdha—stunned; su-çon—with reddish corners;
neträù—eyes.
