BR-68 Brake system – service brake (air pressure)
e. Rotate the shoe shaft leftward and rightward around
the shaft hole using a wrench or vice to allow the pin
holes in the shoe shaft to be aligned with those in the
brake bottom plate.
f. Install the shoe shaft lock nuts and tighten them.
g. Diagonally tighten the lock bolts of the brake shaft
using an iron wire.
7. Check and adjustment of front brake shoe assembly
a. Check whether the front brake shoe assembly is excessively open or closed using a crowbar. It is also
possible to check the return of the brake shoe by depressing and releasing the brake pedal.
b. In case of excessive opening or closing, check whether the clearance between the brake shoe lining and
shaft pin is compliant. If not so, identify the cause and troubleshoot it.
8. Install the front wheel's hub (see Change, Front Wheel Hubs, Front Axle, Front Axle/Front Drive
Axle, Chapter AX Axles and Transmission Shafts).
9. Check the brake clearance (Check on Onboard Parts, Service Brake (Pneumatic) System, Service
Brake (Pneumatic), Chapter BR Brake System).
