Retractor IN
Overview
The retractor has an emergency locking function. It is the core part of the seatbelt. Its functions include spring DI
retraction device, vehicle tilting sensing device, rapid acceleration and deceleration sensing device, and web
acceleration sensing device and etc. The seatbelt retractor is a part sensed with the web acceleration and EG
consists of a circular seatbelt spool and at least one ratchet mounted at the end of the spool. The circular

seatbelt spool is installed in the oval shaft hole on the boards on both sides of the seatbelt compartment; an

inner ratchet gear is arranged obliquely above the oval shaft hole on the boards, to form the lock mechanism
together with the ratchets.

Check and repair

1. Remove the seatbelt (see “Chapter BW Body - Seatbelt - Driver/Co-driver Seatbelt, Replacement”)

2. Inspect the retractor

a. Slowly tilt the retractor to inspect the web locking

conditions.

Unlocked ● If the retractor tilt angle is less than 15 ° in all directions,
the web can not be locked. BR
● If the retractor tilt angle is greater than 45°, the webbing
can be locked. BW
Locked If the actual conditions can not meet the requirements,
must replace it with a new driver/co-driver seatbelt EL
retractor assembly.

b. Inspect the web locking function.

● Pull the web quickly, the web should be locked.

Caution

If there is any fault, it must be replaced with a now
seatbelt. Do not remove any part of the seatbelt retractor

assembly.
