AX-16 Axles, Transmission Shafts - Transmission Shaft

c. Check the fit clearance of cross shaft and needle
bearings and, if the clearance exceeds the required value.
The cross shaft assembly should be replaced.

• Secure one end of the cross shaft to the vise and install
needle bearing.
• Position the dial indicator probe to the center of the
needle bearing surface and zero the indicator.
• Move the needle bearing up and down to observe if the
swing value of dial indicator is within the specified
range.
Standard value: 0.09mm

Limit: 0.3mm
5. Assemble the universal joint assembly

a. Install the grease nipple of cross shaft.

b. Apply proper amount of lubricant to the contact
surfaces of both ends of the transmission shaft and the
flange fork.

c. Spread lubricant evenly over the four shaft neck (up
and down, left and right) on the cross shaft.
d. Install the cross shaft into the flange fork.
