Axles, Transmission Shafts - Transmission Shaft AX-19

Slip Yoke IN

Check and repair DI

1. Remove the transmission shaft assembly (see Chapter AX Axles, T ransmission Shafts - T ransmission
Shaft - Transmission Shaft, Service) EG

2. Check the sliding spline backlash of transmission shaft
a. Using a feeler gauge, measure the fit clearance TR
between the spline shaft and spline sleeve in the normal
direction of rotation. AX

A:Spline sleeve B:Spline shaft
b. If the tooth clearance of sliding spline exceeds the FR
limit, replace with a new transmission shaft.

3. Disassemble the slip yoke
a. Remove the slip yoke. BR

4. Install the slip yoke
a. Apply a suitable amount of grease to the spline of the
rear transmission shaft.

b. Install the slip yoke to the transmission shaft according
to the marking.
c. Use a grease gun to fill the grease cup with the proper
amount of lubricant.
