Axles, Transmission Shafts - Rear Axle AX-39
IN
Rear Axle
Rear axle assembly DI
Overview
1. Automobile rear axle generally consists of the final reducer, the differential, the axle shaft, the rear axle EG
housing and other components.
2. Function of the rear axle: TR
a. The power input by the transmission shaft is transmitted to the drive wheel after deceleration and torque
rise to generate traction force. AX
b. When differential is used to drive the vehicle in the curve or the resistance of the left and the right
wheels is different, the left and the right driving wheels can rotate at different speeds to prevent the
FR
wheels from slipping or trackslipping, but pure rolling on the ground.
c. to withstand vehicle loads, and to transfer the traction force and braking force through the suspension to
ST
the frame.
3. The inner end of the axle shaft is connected to the axle shaft gear by spline, and the outer end of axle shaft
is supported by the bearing in the flange of the axle housing and connected to the hub. The outer end of the BR
axle shaft is subjected to bending moments from the axle housing inner bearing and ground surface, but the
outer end is subjected to all the bending moment, so it is called semi-floating support. BW
4 The rear axle housing is generally composed of the final reducer housing and axle shaft tube. Its
internal is used to install the final reducer, differential and axle shaft, etc. Its exterior is connected to the frame EL
through the suspension, with both ends installed with the brake bottom plate. Rear axle housing is to
withstand a variety of forces and torque from the suspension and wheels.
