              57a 57 WALL KNOT
The Wall Knot is exactly the reverse of the Crown
Knot (56). Where each strand in the crown is
tucked downwards, in the Wall Knot it is tucked
upwards. Start by putting a tape whipping on the
rope and unlay the strands to it, then use tape to
whip the end of each strand. In the direction of the
lay of the rope, tuck each strand up under its
neighbour in the pattern shown in 57a. Gently work
them all tight until they are settled as in 57b. All
that remains is to re-lay the rope so that the wall
knot sits within a fully laid section of rope (57c) and
whip the end. This provides an attractive stopper
57b knot, but without too much bulk.

                                58 DOUBLE WALL KNOT
The Double Wall Knot is a bulkier knot than its
single version (57) but is no harder to form. Put a
tape whipping round the rope, unlay the three
strands to that point and tape their ends. Tuck each
strand up under its neighbour in the same direction
as the lay and then repeat, so that the pattern is
doubled. Work the knot tight, re-lay the strands
together and whip the end for a neat finish (58).
