The following statement of Chazal is very well known by ךְָאְל ַּמַה יֵנְפִל רַמא ֹּת לַא" :)'ה 'ה תֶלֶהקֹ( קוּס ָּפַה לַע )'ה 'ו הָשׁרָ ָּפ
everyone (Yerushalmi Yomah 1:1 [5a]), that every generation in
which the Beit HaMikdash is not rebuilt is as if it was destroyed אלֶֹּשׁ ."'וֹגְו ךֶָלוֹק לַע םיִהלֱֹאָה ףֹצקְִי ה ָּמָל ,איִה הָגָגְשׁ י ִּכ
it in that time. In explanation of this statement, Hashem certainly .תַעדַוֹי הָּירִ ְּב ןיֵאְו ,ערָָה ןוֹשָׁל רֵמוֹאְו ךְֵלוֹה יִנירֲֵה :רַמא ֹּת
does not lack the ability to save us (lit., “Hashem’s hands are
not too short”) if we were to merit to correct our behavior, every ,ךְָאְלַמ ַחֵלוֹשׁ יִנֲאֶשׁ ,ַעדֵוֹי יֵוֲה :אוּה ךְוּר ָּב שׁוֹד ּקַָה וֹל רֵמוֹא
day could be the day that Mashiach would come, as Chazal teach דַע ,ךָרְֵבֲח לַע ר ֵּבדְַמ ה ָּתַאֶשּׁ הַמ ל ָּכ בֵתוֹכְו ,ךְָלְצֶא דֵמוֹעְו
in Gemara Eruvin (43a) “One who vows ‘I will become a Nazir
on the day Mashiach arrives’ is forbidden to drink wine every וֹמ ְּכ ,םירִָב ּדְַה ל ָּכ ויָנָפְל וּעי ִּצַי ןי ּדִַה תַעְשִׁבוּ .וֹנוֹשְׁל ןא ָּכ
day since that might be the day that Mashach arrives.” This is הַמ םָדָאְל דיִּגַמוּ" :)ג"י 'ד סוֹמָע( קוּס ָּפַה לַע ל"ַזֲח וּרְמָאֶשׁ

also the Rambam’s conclusion of law in the 4 perek of the laws
pertaining to a Nazir, in the 11 halacha. But the truth is that our וֹל ןידִיִּגַמ ,וֹתְּשִׁאְל שׁיִא ןי ֵּבֶשׁ ה ָּלקַ הָחיִשׂ וּלִּפֲא ,"וֹחֵשּׂ

sins relentlessly perpetuate our Galut without any letup. Apart .ןי ּדִַה תַעְשׁ ִּב םָדָאָל
from the fact that because of all the tragedies and sufferings that
occur over the passage of time, many other sins have been added.
The primary one, which caused the destruction of our land (and ,ר ֵּבדְַמ אוּהֶשׁ תוּליִכרְוּ ערָָה ןוֹשָׁל ירְֵבדִ ְּב ,ם ָּל ֻּכ לַעְו .כ
our continuing exile), which is the sin of baseless hatred and
Lashon Hara is still dancing in front of our eyes. שׁרַדְ ִּמַה ןוֹשְׁל הֶז ּדְ .וֹדָי ְּב שֵּׁיֶשׁ הרָוֹתַּה טַעְמ תֶא ד ֵּבַאְמ אוּה
ן ֵּת ִּת לַא" :)'ה 'ה תֶלֶהקֹ( ]םי ִּלִהְת ִּב[ ב"מ רוֹמְזִמ ְּב בוֹט רֵחוֹשׁ
During my youth I thought that when a sefer will be written
explaining generally and specifically all of the laws that relate ה ָּמָל" .ערָָה ןוֹשָׁל ְּב ר ֵּבדְַמ ,"ךָרֶָשׂ ְּב תֶא איִטֲחַל ךָי ִּפ תֶא
to the esur of Lashon Hara and Rechilut and believing Lashon ָתאֵצוֹהֶשׁ לוֹקַּה וֹתוֹא לַע ,"ךֶָלוֹק לַע םיִהלֱֹאָה ףֹצקְִי
Hara as being truth, that it would solve this problem. And
Hashem Yitbarach helped me, I toiled and authored and thank הֵשֲׂעַמ תֶא ל ֵּבִחְו" .ךָרְֵבֲח לַע ערָָה ןוֹשָׁל ָּתרְַמָאְו ,ךָיִפ ְּב
Gd the public embraced what I wrote and the name of the sefer וֹטוּשְׁפִבוּ .הָּד ְּבַאְמ ה ָּתַא ,ךָדְָי ְּב שֵּׁיֶשׁ הרָוֹתּ טַעְמ ,"ךָידֶָי
is “Chafetz Chayim.” But still, in a very practical sense, I did
not merit that my words helped very much. Now, my friends ךְרֶ ּדִֶמ ,ךְֶל ֶּמַה יֵנְפִל ןוֹרוֹדּ איִבָי דָחֶא םִא ּדְ ,רַמוֹל לַכוּנ
and associates have advised me in this regard, namely to print a יִל ְּכ תוֹיְהִל ן ֵּכ םַּג ךְירִָצ ןוֹרוֹדַּה וֹבּ חָּנ ֻּמֶשׁ יִל ְּכַהֶשׁ ,דוֹב ָּכַה
pamphlet and summarize in it some of the statements of Chazal
that extol the enormous reward that awaits those who discipline ךְֶל ֶּמַה יֵנְפִל שׁיִּגַמוּ ,הֶטוֹשׁ אוּה םִאְו .בֵטיֵה חָצְחֻצְמ הֶאָנ
their mouths and the words that come out of it, and by contrast הֶיְהִי םַּג ,ךְֶל ֶּמַה יֵנְפִל ןֵח אָשִּׂי אלֶֹּשׁ י ּדַ אלֹ ,סוּאָמ יִל ְּכ
the enormous punishment that awaits those people who behave
in the opposite way and ruin themselves with their own speech. הַמ ,םָדָאָה לֶשׁ ויָנָיְנִע ל ָּכ .הֶּזַה רָב ָּדַה אוּה ןֵכְו .ויָלָע ףֶצקֶ
This pamphlet will be distributed to the “special people” and ידְֵי לַע הָלְעַמְל הֶלוֹע ל ֹּכַה ,וירָוּבּ ּדִ ןֵכְו םוֹי וֹתוֹא ְּב הָשָׂעֶשּׁ
its words will constantly remain in front of their eyes. Perhaps
Hashem will grant us that this effort will help somewhat. This is םִיַפָנ ְּכ לַעַבוּ" :)'כ 'י םָשׁ( ויָלָע בוּת ָּכֶשׁ אוּהְו ,םִיַפָנ ְּכ לַע ַּבַה
