                         like a brickwork of sapphire, þ− flÌtÔqÔí³¤ÔòÐëÌñ ·íÑNμÞÔôÐk                 15. Moshe went up to the mountain, þ¢ÖíÖí-ñÓêí£ÓLô ñÔ¼'ÔiÔî .î¬
           and it was like the essence of heaven in purity. :þÔíÒ Þ¬ÖñóÌ−£ÔôÖMÔíóÓ®'Ó¼Ð×e            and the cloud covered the mountain. :þÞÖíÖí-³Óêö£ÖòÖ¼ÞÓí½'Ô×Ð−Ôî
          11. But against the nobility of the B’nei Yisrael, ñ flÑêÖþÐNÌ−−¤ÑòÐa ·−Ññ−Ì®Îê-ñÓêÐî .ê−  16. The glory of Adonoy rested on Mount Sinai, −flÔò−̽þ¤Ôí-ñÔ¼ ·íÒÖîíÐ−-ðBëÐköÒ¥kÐLÌiÔî .ï¬
                      He [God] did not send His hand. B¢ðÖ−ì£ÔñÖLê'G                                  and the cloud covered it for six days. ó−¢ÌôÖ−³ÓL¤ÑLö£ÖòÖ¼ÞÓíeí'ÑqÔ×Ð−Ôî
           They envisioned God, and they ate and drank. ñ :e ÞzÐLÌiÔîe£ñÐ×êÒÞiÔîó− flÌíGÍê¤Öí-³Óê ·eïÍìÞÓiÔî  On the seventh day, He called to Moshe −£Ì¼−ÌëÐMÔíóB'iÔaí§ÓLô-ñÓêê«ÖþКÌiÔî

                      As for the elders [He waited] until:  ðÔ¼ó−ÌòÑšÐfÔñÐî
                                                                                               There is a dispute among our Sages regarding this:  .þÖëÖcÔaö−ÌšÐñBì eò−ѳBaÔþ
                    “The people were as complainers, etc.  ,ó−ÌòÐòÒêгÌôÐkóÖ¼Öí−ÌíÐ−Ôî
                                                                                                   There are some who say [that these six days]  ,ó−ÌþÐôBê óÓíÑôLÑ−
                   and a fire from God burnt among them  ’í LÑêóÖaþÔ¼ÐëÌzÔî
                     and consumed  22 íѮКÌa of the camp,” 23  íÓòÎìÔnÔííѮКÌañÔ×êÒzÔî       were from Rosh Chodesh—the first day [of Sivan]  LÓðBì LêÒþÑnÓLó−ÌôÖ−íÖMÌLelÑê

         This was before Him at the time of their enslavement,  ,ðeaмÌMÔí³Ô¼ÐLÌaî−ÖòÖõÐñíÖ³Ð−Öíê−Ìí
                                                                                                      [and] the cloud covered it [refers—]  ïÈðÈòÞÆäeäÅqÇëÀéÇå
                  as a reminder of the oppression of Israel,  ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−ñÓLöÖ³ÖþÖ® þBkÐïÌñ
                                                                                                            to the mountain—[whereupon]  :þÖíÖñ
                 for they were subjugated to do brick-work.  :ó−ÌòÑëÐñíÑNμÔôÐaó−ÌðÖaмeLÐôe−ÖíÓL
                                                                                                  He called to Moshe on the seventh day—  .éÄòéÄáÀMÇä íBiÇaäÆLî-ìÆààÈøÀ÷ÄiÇå
               And like the essence of heaven in purity.  .øÇäÉ ÞèÈìíÄéÇîÈMÇäíÆöÆòÀëe
                                                                                                        to proclaim the Ten Commandments.  ,³BþÐaÌcÔí³ÓþÓNμþÔôBñ
            [This symbolizes that] when they were redeemed  eñÎêÐèÌpÓMÌô
                                                                                                       Really, Moshe and all the B’nei Yisroel  ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−ñÖ×ÐîíÓLôe
                     there was light and joy before Him. 26  :î−ÖòÖõÐñíÖîÐðÓìÐî þBê íÖ−Öí
                                                                                                                    were standing there,  ,ó−ÌðÐôB¼
                              And like the essence.  .íÆöÆòÀëe
                                                                                                [yet the verse states only, “He called to Moshe”].
                óÓ®Ó¼Ð×e should be translated as Onkelos does—  ,BôebÐþÔ³Ðk
                                                                                               But [in this way] Scripture gives honor to Moshe.  .íÓLôÐñ ðBëÖk ëe³ÖkÔíšÔñÖìÓLêÖlÓê
                           a term meaning appearance.  :íÓêÐþÔô öBLÐñ
                                       In purity.  .øÇäÉ ÞhÈì
                                                                                                        But there are others who say that . . .  ,ó−ÌþÐôBê LÑ−Ðî
                  þÔíÒ¬Öñ has the meaning of bright and clear.  :ñeñÖ®Ðî þeþÖa öBLÐñ
                                                                                                              The cloud covered Him—  ïÈðÈòÞÆäeäÅqÇëÀéÇå
                       [11] But against the nobility.  .éÅìéÄöÂà-ìÆàÀå [àé]
                                                                                                         refers to Moshe [and this occurred]  íÓLôÐñ
                  These were Nadav, Avihu and the elders.  :ó−ÌòÑšÐfÔíÐî êeí−ÌëÎêÔîëÖðÖòóÑí
