 22. Reuvein said to them, ‡öÑëeêÐþ|ó¤ÓíÑñÎêþÓôê¶ÒiÔî .ë×  and found them in Doson. :öÞÖ³ÒðÐaó£ÑêÖ®ÐôÌiÔî
 “Do not commit bloodshed. ›óÖð-e×ÐtÐLÌz-ñÔê  18. They saw him from a distance, š¢ÒìÖþÞÑôB£³Òêe'êÐþÌiÔî .ì−
 Throw him into this pit ·íÓfÔíþB¥aÔí-ñÓêB †³Òê e×−¤ÌñÐLÔí  and before he approached them ó flÓí−ÑñÎêë¤ÔþКÌ−·óÓþ ¶Ó¬Ðëe
 which is in the wilderness, þ flÖaÐðÌnÔaþ¤ÓLÎê  they were plotting against him to kill him. :B Þ³−ÌôÎíÞÔñB£³Òêe'ñÐkÔòгÌiÔî

 His purpose was to rescue him from their hands, ó flÖðÖiÌô ·B³Òêñ−¥ÌvÔíöÔ¼ †ÔôÐñ  “Here comes the dreamer. :êÞÖaí£ÓïÖlÔí³B 'ôGÎìÞÔíñÔ¼§Ôaí†ÑpÌí
 to bring him back to his father. :î−ÞÌëÖê-ñÓêB£ë−ÌLÎíÞÔñ  20. Now, come let us kill him eí†ÑèÐþÔíÞÔòÐîe¤×Ðñ|í¤ÖzÔ¼Ðî.×

 It is the Divine Spirit that is saying this:  :öÑk³ÓþÓôBê LÓðÒwÔíÔìeþ  They have removed themselves  öÖôЮԼ e¼−ÌqÌí
 They are saying, “Let us kill him,”  ,eíÑèÐþÔíÔòó−ÌþÐôBê óÑí  from [the feeling of] brotherhood. 44  :íÖîÎìÔêÖíöÌô
 but, the verse concludes  :ó−ÑiÔ½Ðô ëe³ÖkÔíÐî  “Let us go to Doson.”  .äÈðÀéÈúÉcäÈëÀìÅð
 “Let us see what will become of his dreams,”  ,î−Ö³BôBñÎìe−ÐíÌiíÔôíÓêÐþÌòÐî  To seek lawful pretexts concerning you  ³B³Öð−ÑñÐ×ÌòEÐñLÑwÔëÐñ
 [i.e.,] let us see whose words will be fulfilled,  ,óešÖ−−ÌôþÔëÐcíÓêÐþÌò  45
                           so that they may kill you.”  .óÓíÖë Ee³−ÌôÐiÓL
 yours or Mine?  !−ÌlÓLBêóÓ×ÖlÓLBê
                        According to the plain meaning  B¬eLÐõ−ÌõÐñe
 It is impossible that it was they [the brothers] who said,  óÑíeþÐôêÒiÓLþÖLÐõÓê−ÌêÐî
                              it is the name of a place  ,êeí óBšÖôóÑL
 “Let us see what will become of his dreams,”  "î−Ö³BôBñÎìe−ÐíÌiíÔôíÓêÐþÌòÐî&  and Scripture never leaves its plain meaning.  :B¬eLÐt−Ñð−ÌôêÑ®B− êÖþКÌôö−ÑêÐî
 for once they kill him,  eíeèÐþÔíÔiÓLöÖî−ÑkÌnÓL  [18] They were plotting against him.  .eìÀkÇðÀúÄiÇå [çé]
 his dreams would [automatically] have no meaning. 48  :î−Ö³BôBñÎìeñЬÖa
        They became filled with conspiracies and deviousness.  :³eiÌôeôÐþÔ¼Ðî ó−ÌñÖ×Ðò eêÐlÔôгÌò
 [21] “Let us not kill him.”  .LÆôÈðepÆkÇðàG [àë]

 [LÓõÓò should be explained as]:
                        [B³Bê] is similar to BzÌê—with him  ,BzÌêBôÐk
 LÓõÓò³ÔkÔô—a blow to the soul,  ,LÓõÓò³ÔkÔn
                    [which is the same as] Bô̼—with him,  ,Bn̼
 which refers to killing.  :íÖ³−Ìôê−ÌíBï

 The Divine Spirit testifies concerning Reuvein,  ,öÑëeêÐþñÔ¼íÖð−̼ÐôLÓðBwÔíÔìeþ
                    what will become of his dreams.”  .åéÈúÉîGÂçeéÀäÄiäÇî
 that he said this only in order to rescue him,  ,B³Bê ñ−ÌvÔíÐñêÖlÓê³êÒïþÔôÖêêHÓL
                                   R. Yitzchok said:  :šÖìЮÌ−−ÌaÔþþÔôÖê
 that he may [later] come and rescue him from there.  ;óÖMÌô epÓñμÔ−Ðî êeí êÒëÖiÓL
 He thought: “I am the firstborn  ,þB×Ðë−ÌòÎê,þÔôÖê  43  1. Yoseif asked him to tell him where they were. What significance is there in knowing that they had traveled from
 and the oldest of them all;  ,öÖle×ÐëÓL ñBðÖèÐî  here? 2. Obviously Yoseif was himself aware that they had left Shechem, for he did not find them there.  44 Rashi
      sees this as a response to Yoseif’s “I am looking for my brothers.”  45  Rashi continues here in the same vein as before.
      The angel was telling Yoseif, “They removed themselves from the feeling of brotherhood, for I heard them say, “Let
 47  I.e., the verse cannot be taken literally.  48  Ramban, however, explains “Let us see what will become of his  us go and seek lawful pretexts to kill him.”  46  B³Bê is a direct object and eñÐkÔòгÌ−Ôî being a reflexive verb cannot have a
 dreams” as being said by the brothers, but in derisive, sarcastic manner.  49  These were not Reuvein’s words, for,  direct object. Rashi, therefore, explains B³Bê as meaning “against him.” He evolves this as follows: B³Õê can be read BzÌê,
