3. Pharaoh said to his brothers, î−£ÖìÓê-ñÓêí§Ò¼ÐþÔtþÓôê«ÒiÔî.è 47 1. Yoseif came and told Pharaoh, and he said, þÓôê†ÕiÔî ›íÒ¼ÐþÔõÐñð¤ÑbÔiÔî ‡¹Ñ½B− ê¤ÒëÖiÔî.ê æî
“What is your occupation?” ó¢Ó×−ÑNμÞÔn-íÔô “My father, and my brothers, their sheep, their cattle, ·óÖþÖšÐëe ó¥ÖòêÒ®Ðî−‚ÔìÔêÐî−¶ÌëÖê
They said to Pharaoh, í †Ò¼ÐþÔt-ñÓêe¤þÐôêÞÒiÔî and all their possessions, ó flÓíÖñþ¤ÓLÎê-ñÖ×Ðî
“Your servants are shepherds, E− flÓðÖëμ·öêÒ®í'ѼÒþ have come from the land of Canaan, öÔ¼¢ÖòÐk±Óþ¤ÓêÑôeê£Öa
we and our fathers.” :eò−ÞѳBëÎê-óÔbeòÐì£ÔòÎê-óÔb and they are now in the land of Goshen.” :öÓLÞb±Óþ'ÓêÐaó£ÖpÌíÐî
4. They said to Pharaoh, í †Ò¼ÐþÔt-ñÓêe¤þÐôêÞÒiÔî.ð 2. From among his brothers, he took five men, ó−¢ÌLÖòÎêí¤ÖMÌôÎìì £ÔšÖñî− flÖìÓêí¤Ñ®ÐšÌôe .ë
“We have come to live in the land temporarily, ›eòê›Öa ‡±Óþ‡ÖêÖaþe¤ èÖñ

for your servant’s flocks, E− flÓðÖëμÞÔñþ¤ÓLÎê·öêÒvÔñ that you have no expertise in other work ,³ÓþÓìÔêíÖ×êÖñÐôÌaö−Ìê−ÌšÐaóÓzÔêö−ÑêÓL
he will distance you from himself î−ÖñÖ¼ÑôóÓ×К−ÌìÐþÔ−
because the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. öÔ¼¢ÖòÐk±Óþ¤ÓêÐaë£Ö¼ÖþÞÖíð'ÑëÖ×-−ÞÌk
and he will settle you there. :óÖLóÓ×Ðë−ÌLB−Ðî
Now then, please let your servants settle E−£ÓðÖëμê'Öò-eëÐLÞÑ−í§ÖzÔ¼Ðî Since every shepherd is abhorrent to Egypt. .ïàÉöäÅòÉøìÈkíÄéÇøÀöÄîúÇáÂòBú éÄk
in the land of Goshen.” :öÓLÞb±Óþ'ÓêÐa Because they [the sheep] are deities to them. :³eíÖñÍêóÓíÖñóÑíÓL−ÌõÐñ
5.Pharaoh said to Yoseif, þ¢ÒôêÑñ¹£Ñ½B−-ñÓêí flÒ¼ÐþÔtþÓôê¤ÒiÔî.í [2] From among his brothers. .åéÈçÆàäÅöÀ÷Äîe [á]
“Your father and your brothers have come to you. :E−ÞÓñÑêeê'ÖaE−£ÓìÔêÐîE−'ÌëÖê From the least strong among them, ,íÖþeëÐèÌñóÓíÖaÓLó−̳eìÐtÔíöÌô
6. The land of Egypt is before you. êî flÌíE−¤ÓòÖõÐñ·óÌ−¶ÔþЮÌô±Óþ¥Óê.î who do not [even] appear strong, ,ó−ÌþBaÌbó−ÌêÐþÌòö−ÑêÓL
for if he [Pharaoh] would find them strong ,ó−ÌþBaÌbóÖ³Bê íÓêÐþÌ−óÌêÓL
In the best of the land, ±Óþ flÖêÖíë¤Ô¬−ÑôÐa
he might induct them into his military. .BzÐôÔìÐñÌô−ÑLÐòÔêóÖ³Bê íÓNμÔ−
settle your father and your brothers. E−¢ÓìÔê-³ÓêÐîE−£ÌëÖê-³Óêë'ÑLBí These [weaker ones] were: :óÑííÓlÑêÐî
Let them settle in the land of Goshen. öÓLflb±Óþ¤ÓêÐa·eëÐLÞÑ− Reuvain, Shimon, Leivi, Yissachar and Binyomin, Zö−ÌôÖ−ÐòÌëe þÖ×NÖOÌ−,−ÌîÑñ ,öB¼ÐôÌL,öÑëeêÐþ
If you know of capable men among them, ñÌ− flÔì-−ÑLÐòÔê·óÖa-LÓ−ÐîÖzм†ÔðÖ−-óÌêÐî those whose names Moshe did not repeat óÖ³BôÐLíÓLô ñÔõÖ×êHÓLöÖ³Bê
appoint them livestock officers over my [herds.]” :−ÞÌñ-þÓLÎê-ñÔ¼í£ÓòКÌô−'ÑþÖNó§ÖzÐôÔNÐî when he blessed them. 63 .öÖ×ÐþÑaÓLÐk
But, the names of the strong ones he repeated: :ñÔõÖkó−ÌþBaÌbÔí ³BôÐLñÖëÎê
7. Yoseif [then] brought in Yaakov, his father, î− flÌëÖêë¤ÒšÎ¼ÞÔ−-³Ó극ѽB− ê¥ÑëÖiÔî.ï
“And this is for Yehudah— ,íÖðeí−Ìñ³êÒïÐî
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RASHI é"ùøAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA hear, God, the voice of Yehudah.” 64 ;íÖðeíÐ− ñBš ’í ¼ÔôÐL
“And about Gad he said, þÔôÖêðÖèÐñe
And the fact that Yehudah’s name is repeated— BôÐLñÔtÐ×eíÓLíÖðeí−Ìî
‘Blessed be He that extends Gad.’” 65 ;ðÖbë−ÌìÐþÔ ô CeþÖa
it is not repeated due to his being weak— ,³eLÖlÔì óeMÌôñÔtÐ×eí êG
“And about Naphtali he said, ‘Naphtali.’” 66 ,−ÌñÖzÐõÔòþÔôÖê−ÌñÖzÐõÔòÐñe
but there is a reason for this ,þÖëÖcÔaLÑ−óÔ¼Ô¬êÖlÓê
“And about Dan he said, ‘Dan.’” 67 ,öÖcþÔôÖêöÖðÐñe
as is mentioned in Bava Kamma. êÖnÔšêÖëÖëÐaêÖ³−ÌêÐðÌk
And so, too, concerning Zevulun. 68 ,öŠñeëÐïÌñöÑ×Ðî
In the Berayso of the Sifrei we have the version— dÖë eò−ÌòÖL−ÑþÐõ̽ÐðêÖ³Ð−ÖþÖëÐëe
And so, too, concerning Asher. 69 ;þÑLÖêÐñöÑ×Ðî
in [the portion of] V’zos Haberachah— ,íÖ×ÖþÐaÔí³êÒïÐîÌa

that is the same as our Talmud [in Bava Kamma.] 71 :eòÖlÓL ðeôÐñÔzBôÐk
which is the Aggadah of the Land of Israel. .ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−±ÓþÓê³ÔðÖbÔêê−ÌíÓL
[6] Capable men. 72 .ìÄéÇçéÅLÀðÇà [å] But, in our Babylonian Talmud 70 eòÖlÓL ³−ÌñÐëÔa ðeôÐñÔzÔañÖëÎê
That are experts in their occupation of tending sheep. :öêÒ® ³B¼ÐþÌñöÖ³eòÖôeêÐaö−Ìê−ÌšÐa we find that those whose names Moshe repeated öÖ³BôÐLíÓLô ñÔõÖkÓLöÖ³BêÓL ,eò−Ì®Öô
71 The reason being that Moshe said a special prayer that Yehudah’s bones should no longer rattle in the coffin as his were the weak ones ,ó−ÌLÖlÔìÔíóÑí
remains were carried on the forty-year trek through the dessert. (See Bava Kamma 92a. Also see Rashi Deut. 33, and those were the ones he [Yoseif] brought before Pharaoh. ,íÒ¼ÐþÔõ−ÑòÐõÌñê−ÌëÑíöÖ³BêÐî
