ENHANCING SOULS-LIKE GAMEPLAY: A
                                              STUDY ON IMPROVING GAME DIFFICULTY,

                                              REPLAYABILITY, AND PLAYER ENGAGEMENT

                                              ABSTRACT Poster Video

                                              RESEARCH BACKGROUND

Due to the difficulty and complexity of the game, the entrance hurdle for the Souls-like
game genre has increased in terms of the effort to be put into the game. Besides being
patient and tolerant, the players should also be psychologically equipped to sustain the
game. Most players simply drop the game and find something more interesting if the
game is not impressive enough to them.

                                              METHODOLOGY

BSc (Hons) in Multimedia Technology This project involves conducting research and analysis on Souls-like games, identifying
and Innovation issues, generating solutions, and designing a prototype. Playtesting sessions on the
Department of Digital Innovation and prototype are conducted to gather feedback and data for iterative refinements. The
Technology effectiveness of implemented solutions is evaluated and compared to traditional
Souls-like games. The findings are analyzed and compiled into a final report, including
                                              recommendations for future improvements.
    OBJECTIVES FINDINGS

By seamlessly merging Souls-like and rogue-like mechanics, the gameplay is enhanced.
