By District Governor Keith Murray
My thanks to the Red Oak and Garland Evening Lions Clubs for hosting me.
I have some more lined up, but if I do not to hear from your club to schedule a visit, you may not see me this year. Our District is still up in membership. Good news!
2nd VDG Billy Ketner has announced the District Picnic on May 11th in Wylie and I encourage all of you to sign up for it. More information in this issue!
I am pleased that we have a good candidate for 2nd Vice District Governor. Come and meet Esmeralda, if you haven’t already.
It is the time of the year to elect new officers in your clubs. I am asking all incoming Presidents (even if repeating) to attend the Friday night social event and bring your Club Banner and Stand. We plan to introduce and induct all of you. We will also have a fun time finding out about our fellow Lions that evening! Come and “Know Your Lion”.
There will be an orientation for new Lions, and those wanting a refresher, on Saturday morning. Give me some names and we will induct new members at noon during the Awards Banquet. This is your chance to have a new Lion sworn in by a Past International Director! Remember the LCI dues are prorated for the remainder of the semi-annual period and there are no dues for district or state until the semi-annual billings. The waiver of the $35 initiation fee for Veterans is still in effect.
Plans for the District Convention April 26-27 are firming up as are those for the State Convention May 30 to June1. Register now to join the fun. A detailed district convention agenda is in this newsletter. PID Kembra Smith promises an inspiring talk, and the cookie contest is back! If your Club brings a basket the winner will have a donation made in your name to one of the Charities. Then the bingo winners will choose a basket to take home.
