Animal Welfare at the Heart of Animal Rights Aruba

ORANJESTAD - Animal Rights Aruba (ARA) is a non
– profit Animal Welfare Organization that aims to
protect all Fauna, Flora and Marine Life on and
around the island of Aruba.
Animal Rights Aruba was founded on May 3, 1999,
is run solely by volunteers, and is a very young or-
ganization with a lot of room to grow. Our vision is
a world in which the welfare of animals is under-
stood and respected by everyone, and protected
by effective legislation.
In 2005 ARA started a sterilization, rescue and
adoption campaign to deal with the stray dog
and cat overpopulation dilemma, as it was a se-
rious issue on the island not only from an animal
welfare stance, but that of Public Health and Tour-
ism as well. Animal Rights Aruba recently unveiled
its campaign offering greatly discounted spay
and neuter services at all three vet clinics on the
island, so that dog and cat owners can choose
between Contreras Veterinary Services, in Shaba
and Savaneta, VKA in Noord, Wayaka and San
Nicholas or Animal Care Clinic, in Paradera. Dog
& Cat owners are urged to take advantage of the
offer, as Animal Right Aruba subsidizes the proce-
dure by partially paying the vets for the operation.
Dog and cat owners are expected to participate
with a very reasonable contribution.
For more details on discounted spay and neuter
services, animals up for adoption and other cam-
paigns, please visit ARA online at: www.animal-
rightsaruba.org.
