What is the process when a new referral
comes in via ECIN?

Dedicated Intake Associates (IAs) will monitor, review, and
answer referrals on ECIN with the following initial response:

“Thank you for your referral to VNSNY, our Intake team will
review and follow up.”

How will the Branch identify if a referral is
made via ECIN?

 Either of the following methods may be used to determine whether the
referral source uses ECIN to transmit their referral:

 Referral Attachments – The patient episode attachments on ECIN will
indicate whether the referral was made through ECIN based on
documentation

 ECIN Referral List – A list showing the most common referral sources who
refer through ECIN (Note, while the referrers on this list primarily use ECIN,
there may be select or rare instances where the referrer chooses to refer
through another non-ECIN method).
