6.4.1.4 Runway dimensions
It is stated that the runway is 578 x 30 meters, but to see how much runway we
have available, we need to take a closer look at the indication of the runway
dimensions which is below the overview map.
Here we can see the runways and
their directions.
It is important to know the terms for indicating runway dimensions:
TORA = Take Off Run Available
TODA = Take Off Distance Available
ASDA = Acceleration Stop Distance Available
LDA = Landing Distance Available

Of course, you need to know the markings on runways and taxiways as well as
the signage at and on them. More about this in the section “Aviation Law”.
Here is an overview of the different runway dimensions.
Note that Clearway is an obstacle-free area where aircraft can perform the first
part of the climb.
