What is the goal of “Gifts for Mission”?
The goal of our “Gifts for Mission” Generosity Sunday is $200,000 which will enable our
synod to partner with the ELCA in providing ministry grants for new and redeveloping congre-
gations. The Northern Illinois Synod has also made the commitment to tithe gifts received for
“Gifts for Mission.” Ten percent of all undesignated gifts received will be shared with the
Northern Illinois Synod Nursing School Project in Tanzania.
How can we reach the goal of our “Gifts for Mission” Generosity Sunday?
In order to reach our goal, we are asking each of our 148 congregations and members of the
Northern Illinois Synod to participate in our “Gifts for Mission” Generosity Sunday on May
20, 2018. This will be a one-time ingathering of gifts from congregations and individuals
to strengthen our Synod Mission Fund.
How can we share our gifts for “Gifts for Mission”?
Each congregation of our Northern Illinois Synod is asked to designate Pentecost Sunday, May
20, 2018 as “Gifts for Mission” Generosity Sunday. During worship, each of our 148 congre-
gations will be encouraged to receive special gifts for “Gifts for Mission.” Gifts both large
and small will celebrate with joy the generosity of our congregations and “Gifts for Mission.”
To attain our goal of $200,000, we will need the following gifts from our 148 congregations:
1 gift of $20,000
1 gifts of $15,000
1 gifts of $10,000
