The second day of the resistance – A lot of workers passing
greeted us in the early morning hours. It became quite crowded
here during the lunch break and we handed out leaflets. We spoke
to quite a few people. Apart from our friends leaving work, there
was not a great number of people. When people were leaving work
in the evening we again handed out our leaflets to our friends
working in factories in the neighbourhood and we spoke with
them to explain why we are here. We met in the evening and de-

cided to be in Taksim on May Day.

1 May 2013 Wednesday

The third day of the resistance – Today is the day of unity and
the struggle for solidarity of all the workers in the world, May Day,
but in our country going out to Taksim is banned. At eight in the
morning we gathered near the factory and tried to get to the front
of the DISK office in Sisli. Some of us got to the DISK office, oth-

ers stayed in Bomonti. Because the police were use pepper gas and
water from high-pressure hoses against thousands of people like
us trying to get onto the main road. For hours we did what we
could in one street after another almost suffocated by riot gas, but
we l not form a cortege. The areas in front of DISK, Bomonti and
a number of streets in Mecidiyekoy were like a war zone. Dozens
of people were injured.

Some of us were taking part in May Day for the first time.
