they had spoken to CHD lawyers and had taken a decision on
starting resistance. I also took part. Our first action was on 27 Feb-
ruary in front of the factory at Bomonti in Sisli, where we read
out a press statement.
Yuruyus: What are the concrete demands of the resistance?
Bulent Unal: We want the wages for four months that have
not been paid, seniority and notice. Our concrete demands are
for our rights. We will continue our resistance until we get them.
Y: What actions are you carrying out to get your rights?
Bulent Unal: Every Wednesday we march from the front of
Sisli mosque to the factory and make a press statement. Later on
we started to march from Galatasaray to Taksim on Saturday with
the Hey textile workers who had been thrown out of work without
their rights like we had been. Besides, every Sunday we began to
go to the house of our bosses Umit and Mustafa Umut Somuncu
to read out a press statement and hold a sit-down action. Almost
all these three actions started at the same time.
Y: What effect do your actions have on your bosses? Do you
think you will win?
Bulent Unal: We know from some people who are their
bootlickers that the Wednesday actions in front of the factory dis-
turb the bosses but we need to disturb them greatly. Moreover, on
several occasions we were not able to prevent materials from being
removed from the factory, even though we heard about it. So after
talking to other friends we took the decision to set up a tent in
front of the factory. On 29 April we did it.
