Yes, I believe we will win. If we win we will give hope to thou-
sands of textile workers in this area. Because all workers in this
area have the same problems. So our resistance is very important.
We want all our worker friends, especially textile workers, to sup-
port this resistance so it wins.
Y: Are you referring to your tent resistance? What else are
you thinking of doing?
Bulent Unal: Now we are continuing our resistance with a
24-hour presence in our tent. We are also continuing other ac-
tions. We have still to take any other decisions. But I can say that
we will not limit ourselves to these. And in addition I want to state
that I know how harsh living conditions are in this country. Just
as we have been given hope by previous acts of resistance, it is my
wish and hope that our resistance will also give other workers hope
and show the way. The workers who resist will win.
Yuruyus: Why are you resisting? Can you tell us what you ex-
perienced?
Songul Kara: My name is Songul Kara. I am a Kazova Triko-
taj worker. For three years I have worked as a machinist in the
ready to wear department. We started to resist with the other de-
partments when our bosses departed without giving us our rights.
We want to see trade unions, the media and sensitive people
on our side as we seek to get what is owed to us.
Y: What actions are you carrying out to get your rights?
Songul Kara: Every Wednesday we march from Sisli mosque
to the factory. Every Saturday we march from Taksim to
