Y: Are you determined to resist until you get your rights?
Songul Kara: We are determined. They did not just steal our
money but also our bread and honour. We will continue to resist
for our bread and the fruits of our labour. In the end we will win.
Y: Has there been sufficient support for your resistance?
What are you doing to increase support and build up the resist-
ance?
Songul Kara: It is possible to gain more support for the re-
sistance. To do this we tell more people about the resistance and
say we want support. We hand out leaflets. We put up posters…
We try to make our voices heard. Besides the occupation and
hunger strikes, we are continuing actions.
Dursun Ceylan: We will resist to the end and get our rights.
Yuruyus: Can you introduce yourself? What have you done
in the resistance so far?
Dursun Ceylan: My name is Dursun Ceylan, I have worked
here for 12 years. The resistance started with a march. Later on
we set up a tent in front of the factory. Today is the 86th day in a
tent, since the bosses showed no sensitivity our friends took a de-
cision in committee and we occupied the factory. When the bosses
still made no sound as the factory was occupied, we decided on
30 June to sell the machines in the factory to get what was owed
to us. But unfortunately the police put up obstacles and we were
unable to remove and sell the machinery. At the moment we are
still inside the factory. Our hunger strikes and occupation are con-
tinuing. We will resist to the end and get our rights. We have not
