yet secured sufficient support but we certainly have friends out-
side. With every passing day we get more support. I believe that
with their support we will gain our rights. Moreover, I think that
we will succeed in repairing the machine parts they stole and make
sweaters.
Engin Yildiz: I was aware that in this country people only get
their rights by resisting.
Yuruyus: Can you introduce yourself? What have you done
in the resistance so far?
Engin Yildiz: My name is Engin Yildiz. I have worked here
for 16 years. When first thrown out of work I sought a solution
through the normal courts. But friends said it was necessary to re-
sist. At first I did not believe too much in the resistance. The
friends had started resisting. I dropped in from time to time. Later
I was aware that in this country people only get their rights by re-
sisting, and I joined the resistance tent. Previously I was reluctant
to do things but I saw they were doing what was necessary to de-
fend their rights. And in the last two months I too have joined
them. We do shifts in the tent, hand out leaflets and try to make
our voices heard. Actually you see I was not fired, I left work after
agreement with the boss. He said he would guarantee all my rights
but then he disappeared. I learned I was out of work and in fact
was out the door at the same time as my friends. I had made an
agreement with the boss on 10 December but was out the door
with the others on 10 January. As far as I know 94 workers were
removed from work. Our bosses are Umit Somuncu, Mustafa
Umur Somuncu and Gaye Somuncu. I was not in the first actions.
I started to go on duty in the tent. I did that on the 43rd day of
