try to make our voices heard.
The Resisting Kazova Workers Explain:
“We are trying to wake up everyone in this sector! Let us
unite and trust one another! Let us resist, let us win! Let the
bosses understand that henceforth they cannot take away peo-
ples’ rights!”
Yuruyus: Can you introduce yourself?
Songul Kara: My name is Songul Kara, I have worked here
for three years. I was thrown out of work on 31 January 2013. We
started resistance on 27 February 2013. We started the first ac-
tions, marches and press statements. We occupied the workplace,
we are on hunger strike. We went to the house that the bosses
moved to in an attempt to flee, it was a pleasure to us to tell their
neighbours that we would continue until we got our rights. Later
we occupied the factory. After the occupation, the bosses who had
ignored us contacted us and started trying to divert our attention.
Y: After the occupation, the bosses who did not bother to
show themselves suddenly made an appearance. The police and
courts did nothing about 90 workers being deprived of four
months’ wages and compensation, but now the police are behav-
ing like security guards for thieving bosses. How do you evaluate
this?
Songul Kara: The state always and everywhere protects the
boss and the strong. If I had money it would also protect me. But
there is also people’s justice and sooner or later the people will
grab them by the scruff of the neck.
