of communications.
At half past three they were at the top of the street where the
company is, and opened a banner with the words “WE ARE ON
HUNGER STRIKE UNTIL WE GET OUT RIGHTS FROM
THE BOSSES THE SOMUNCU FAMILY WHO HAVE TAKEN
AWAY THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOUR”. The workers came in
front of the building chanting the slogan slogans “We don’t want
charity, we want our rights, we won’t let Gaye Somuncu take away
our rights, long live our Kazova resistance, we are workers, we are
right, we will win”. Here a press statement was made, directed at
Gaye Somuncu:
“We are workers and want the fruits of our labour. This is
why we have been resisting and struggling for months. We have
been on hunger strike for 11 days. And the people who have
wronged us are your father and elder brother. For years you have
talked about Islam and completeness of religion. At the moment
it is Ramadan. We ask… do you not have a conscience? How can
you be on the side of humanity, justice and equality and not turn
a hair? How can you sleep when your neighbour is hungry? Who
knows, perhaps you say it is not your neighbour. Look and you
will see that this is correct. We are slaves who your father and elder
brother made to work for years, exploited and then took our rights
away. Otherwise we would not be talking to you. But we know
very well that if it were not for your interests and the interests of
people like you, you would not even give them a pin. Your fake
tears and demonstrative affection are about getting society to know
you and that is all. And you are brazen enough to tell lies about
not seeing your family.”
