Team Member
Contact the MedCor Nurseline at 800.775.5866.
If the Team Member is seeking medical care, MedCor will advise of a facility for the Team Member to visit
or they can refer you to the provider panel card. In some states, such as New York and Ohio, the Team
Member can go to the facility of his/her choice. In Louisiana we cannot give any direction on a medical
facility.
Complete the electronic Team Member Incident Form.
Inform your ROD/ROM as an FYI.
Guest
If the Guest requests that you call 911, even if you don’t assess the situation to be serious, you must follow
through with their request.

TEAM MEMBER – GENERAL ILLNESS
If a Team Member calls out sick with any symptom that is covered in the Food Code Policy in the Team Member
handbook, you must ask for a doctor’s note before he/she can return to work to rule out a communicable
disease, where permitted by law. Because of HIPAA, you may not ask specific questions about why he/she is
calling out sick, but you may ask him/her to review the Food Code Policy in the handbook and remind the Team
Member that if any of the symptoms listed are present, he/she will need to bring a doctor’s release in order to
return to work.
The Food Code Policy lists the following symptoms, which may be red flags for a public outbreak: diarrhea,
sore throat with fever, vomiting, fever, jaundice and discharge from the eyes, ears, nose and mouth with
lesions containing pus. If a Team Member volunteers these symptoms, make sure you have a doctor’s release
for the Team Member to return to work.
If you have specific questions, contact HR to discuss the situation.
DO NOT TAKE ANY STEPS OR ACTIONS WITH THE TEAM MEMBERS WITHOUT FIRST CALLING THE CRISIS HOTLINE
AND RECEIVING GUIDANCE.
