Science Y1 – Floating and sinking - overview
FLOATING AND SINKING
Truth to Teach (Source)
Job 9:8 ‘He alone . . treadeth upon the waves of the sea.’
God alone has the freedom to operate within the limitations
of the laws governing floating and sinking as established by
Him, or cut across them, as He sees fit.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. To help children appreciate God's deity.
2. To help them understand that whether an object sinks or floats
depends on:
• the material of which it is made.
• the shape of the object.
• whether or not it is filled with air ( or similar acting
gas).
3. To help the children appreciate how this knowledge is applied in
boat building and loading, and in life-saving equipment
