P. 16
God sees obedience and is pleased with it. Jesus set us the example.
4. Read some of the above verses to show that it is God’s desire that children obey their
parents because parents are older and wiser. They want to protect their children, eg.
crossing the road, putting on safety belts in the car, training them in good behaviour
and attitudes.
5. Talk about the need to obey our heavenly Father too, as Samuel did. Read the story in
a children’s Bible story book.
6. Let the children complete the worksheet.
7. End by praying for everyone to be obedient with the Holy Spirit’s help.
Learning for Life (Fulfilment)
1. The children will hopefully realise God’s heart for them to obey their parents and to
be obedient to him.
2. The children should realise that their safety may depend on being obedient.
GENERATION TO GENERATION

Psalm 78:1-4 Telling the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.
Psalm 145:4 ‘One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of
your mighty acts.’
2 Timothy 1:5 ‘I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your
grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded,
now lives in you.’
Deuteronomy 6:7 ‘These commandments that I give you today are to be upon
your hearts. Impress them on your children.’
¾ It is God’s heart for us to share our faith with the next generation of our families,
and in God’s wider family.
