neighborhood. It’s about how we, the People – Christians -- look the other way when
we see our brothers and sisters going through garbage cans in search of discarded
meals. My experience on the streets compels me, on the one hand, to beg the
question, “what does going to church on Sunday and giving 10-percent tithe have to

do with being a Christian?” Rather, to be a Christian is to model Christ-like conduct:

“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to

the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.”

                                     - JESUS CHRIST | (circa: 4 BC - AD 30)
                                                                  - MATTHEW 19:21

On the other hand, could it possibly be that some people claim to be Christians
in terms of their affiliation with the Church, rather than their belief in the Christian

traditions? Or could it be that they do not belief in Christ’s teachings (Christianity)?

“The King will reply: ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one

of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,
                                         you did for me.”

                                                                 - MATTHEW 25:40

Either way, I’m reminded of our die-hard slogan, the “Land of Milk and
Honey!” We give tons of money, weapons and other aids to foreign countries while
our fellow Americans are hungry and destitute. That’s not all; the irony is that some

of these foreign countries use the same weapons against us. Another irony follows -
           - in this Great Land of Billionaires and Millionaires -- millions of Americans are
homeless and starve for food while some of us spent a combined $56 billion in 2013,

alone on their pets [Manning 2014]:

                 ▪ $21.6 billion for food.
