         ⇒  DISCRIPTION;This is a shrub to sm

            pair of leaves. It has boat-like leav

            es bent backwards in a sickle shape. Small gall-like growths may be noticed on t

            he leaf surfaces. These are caused by a species of fungus, which often attacks t
            hese trees. V. infausta flowers in late October. It has roundish fruit, which can b

            e up to 40 mm in diameter, with a glossy brown skin when ripe.





         ⇒  WHERE THEY ARE FOUND; This species is occurring mostly on rocky places and

            hills throughout Botswana.





         ⇒  USES;The fruit is edible and contains
            a high level Roots are used medici-
            nally to treat malaria. It is considered

            unlucky to use the wood of this
            species
